Company Profile

Founded in 1994, GEM Health Care Services Inc. was one of Canada’s largest independent health-care agencies.  Today, GEM Health Care Services (2011) Inc. specializes in private duty nursing, home care, palliative services for private and government clients, and institutional supplemental staffing.  Using the same guiding principles and practices that made GEM Health Care Services Inc., so successful, GEM Health Care Services (2011) Inc. is providing the same dedicated and compassionate care the clients and employees of the organization have come to expect.

It was one of the first agencies of its kind in Canada to receive the prestigious professional accreditation of Accreditation Canada (formerly the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation), which sets rigorous national standards for home care, information management, human resources, environmental services, leadership and community partnerships.         

The company is also a member of the Ontario Home Care Association, Canadian HomeCare Association, the Canadian Association for Community Care, the Better Business Bureau Canada and numerous other organizations and associations.

GEM Software Scheduling Solutions was created in 2000 and is the creator of GEM Health Care System®, a web based health care information management system automating personnel and client files, including care management and assessment by matching clients with staff expertise, scheduling of staff and client assignments.  The software program is the underpinnings of the health care agency and its franchises.

The company is an acknowledged and sound business model with a proven track record. Combining this lineage with the right economic conditions, private health care growth, private-public sector partnerships and the demographics of an aging population, prompted the creation of GEM Franchising (Canada) Limited  for nation-wide expansion. The franchise agencies are known under the trade name of GEM Health Care Services. 

In 2008, two franchise offices were opened; one in Halton and one in Newmarket.  All GEM Health Care Services locations provide the same level of business, service and community commitments to the residents of their community.
