How to Choose a Health Care Service Provider

1. Ask if the health care agency is accredited with Accreditation Canada, which sets rigid national quality standards.
2. Ask if the health care agency is a member of the Ontario Home Care Association (OHCA).
3. Ask if the health care agency’s staff are bonded, insured, criminal record and referenced checked, and covered by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB).
4. Ask if staff are trained and qualified. Ask for copies of certification.
5. Is there 24 hour service and accessibility?
