GEM Franchising Process

Upon receiving a request from you the GEM Franchising team we send you a general information package, including a confidential questionnaire.
A telephone appointment with the CEO and the Franchise Development Coordinator will be set up. During this phone conversation we will provide you an overview of the business, review your application. This is the time to discuss any questions and/or issues with regard to the Franchise opportunity.
Psychometrics, Reference and Credit Checks. After the phone call GEM Franchising team will review your application and assume you meet our requirements a series of psychometrics test will be set up for you to complete and your reference and credit rating will be check.
Follow-up telephone conversation with GEM franchising Team. This call is to discuss the results of the assessment, possible locations and allow for further questions on your part. If all is moving along well you’ll be invited to move to the Joint Exploration Stage.

Visit to GEM HCS Head Office in Ottawa. GEM Franchise Team will invite you to participate in the ‘Discovery Day’, where you have an opportunity to meet the office staff, and have a brief overview of the operations here at GEM HCS. You will be provided with a copy of the Franchise Disclosure Document, which includes the Franchise Agreement, and a complete list of our Franchise and Corporate business locations. The Franchise Agreement document includes vital legal documents, such as the Software License Agreement, as well as many other important documents to factor into consideration before joining our Franchise Team..
Complete Legal and Accounting Review You are encouraged to seek legal advice regarding the Franchise Agreement and professional accounting advice with respect to your business plan and cash flow projections
Complete Draft Business Plan. This will be reviewed by the CEO, as well as Members of the GEM Franchising Team.
Selection Committee Review of Application. Once you have completed you legal review our Franchise Team will meet to review your application and completed file. You can expect to hear from us within 3-5 business days. If this is a prefect franchising match you will be invited to be a GEM Franchisee.
Granting of a GEM Franchise. This is the exciting step, you’ll be invited to sign the Franchise Agreements and provide payment of Franchise Fee. You are now in Business!!

Site Selection - GEM Franchise Team will guild you through selecting the location for your GEM office and assist with setting up the office to GEM Franchising standard.
Business Creation - Registration for Business Name, Incorporation, Business License, Telephone and Fax, Tax numbers (provincial and federal), Bank Accounts and any other required business licensing/registrations.
Staffing – Recruitment of Director of Nursing and a critical number of trained medical and non-medical staff.
GEM Training – The first stage of GEM Franchising Training is conducted at GEM Head Office in Ottawa. This is an intense week which includes operation and sales training and opportunities to shadow care experts visiting existing and future clients. This includes an overview of the Operations Manual, Administrative Policy and Procedure Manual, as well as the Clinical Practice Policy and Procedure Manual.
“Soft” Business/Office Opening. This is completed once the franchisee is operational. This training includes a demonstration of software and finance training modules, as well as a one-to-one sales demonstration.

“Grand” Business/Office Opening - Congratulation – you’re in business. Usually 1 to 3 months from “Soft” Business/Office Opening. This is the opportunity for you to invite the local Chamber of Commerce and politicians to you exciting event.
Ongoing Support – The GEM Franchising team will be there to help you achieve your success with weekly business support calls, marketing materials and website updates.
