Founded in 1994, GEM Health Care Services Inc. (GEM HCS) is one of Canada’s largest independent health care agencies in Canada. It specializes in private duty nursing, home care, Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) personal support services, shift nursing and institutional supplemental staffing.
GEM Health Care Services Inc., GEM Software Scheduling Solutions and GEM Franchising (Canada) Limited are privately held businesses, wholly owned and managed by its Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer Gaye E. Moffett, RN, B.Sc.N, M.Ed.
GEM Health Care Services Inc. operates offices in Ottawa and Kingston Ontario.
GEM Health Care Services Inc. was one of the first agencies of its kind in Canada to receive the prestigious professional accreditation from Accreditation Canada. This achievement assures the public that GEM HCS is meeting the rigorous national standards for health care service delivery, through implementation of Accreditation Canada’s patient/client safety goals and required organizational practices (ROPs).
The company is a member of the Ontario Home Care Association, Canadian Home Care Association and the Conference Board of Canada Leaders’ Roundtable on Immigration.
The company operates with a sound business model and a proven track record. The prevailing trends in the growth of the private health care sector, the right economic conditions, private-public sector partnerships and the demographics of an aging population, prompted the creation of GEM Franchising Inc. and GEM Franchising (Canada) Limited operating as GEM Health Care Services for business expansion and franchising in 2006.
Currently there are two GEM Health Care Services franchises located in Newmarket and Oakville Ontario; each operating as their own legal entity. Additional Franchises are expected to be granted in 2009/2010 in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
GEM Software Scheduling Solutions is a high-tech software company and the creator of GEM Health Care System® (the “Software System”) which is an information management system specifically designed by hands-on health care managers with more than 30 years of experience.
The Web-based program fully automates personnel and client files, provides care management and assessment by matching clients with staff expertise. Highlights of the software are payroll verification and invoicing, monitoring in “real time” the scheduling of staff and client assignments, matches them on the basis of postal codes so that travel times are minimized and service is maximized. The latest features launched in 2009 are an “eTimeslip” for immediate validation of the employee’s work hours.
